HSBC UK LET’S RIDE SHEFFIELD – SUNDAY 15 JULY - ROAD CLOSURE

The roads around the Hallamshire will be closed on Sunday 15th July 2018 for the HSBC Sheffield Bike Ride.


The club will be inaccessible by road from 8am -3.30pm on the day of the event.

Please allow extra time for your journey.

Hallamshire Sports Dinner 2018 is open to book from Monday 2nd July!!!

The Hallamshire Sports Dinner returns this year at a new venue, we are at Tapton Hall this year. Tapton is just minutes from the Hallamshire.

Tickets for the Sports Dinner are available from Monday 2nd July.

It starts at 7pm.

Members Price - £47.50

Non-members Price - £49.50

This price includes ;

- Drink on arrival

- 3 Course Meal

- Half a bottle of wine with meal

-DJ

- If you fill a table at the Dinner, your table will receive 3 bottles of wine free at The Hallamshire from 5pm. We did this last year and had over 100 party goers down before the Dinner. It was a great way to start the night.

JOB VACANCY

Hallamshire Tennis & Squash Club is looking for an Assistant Accountant 20-25 Hours Per Week (negotiable) Salary £23,000-£25,000 p.a (pro rata)

About the Role:

The individual will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the purchase, sales and nominal ledgers including reconciliations; running a small monthly payroll and submitting the relevant returns to HMRC. The role also includes the preparation of a quarterly VAT return. The role is to prepare the accounts up to the Trial Balance stage. The club uses Sage software


Personal Specification:

You must be well organised, with the ability to work under pressure to strict timescales combined with strong I.T, skills. The ability to multi task, work both independently and within a team. The successful candidate needs to be pro-active and have a wide range of accounting experience. The individual would ideally be part-qualified or qualified by experience and, preferably, has Sage experience.

We are a modern club situated in the leafy suburbs of Sheffield with first rate and highly regarded sports facilities and coaching programs. We have an active and large membership with:

8 outdoor tennis courts, being 2 acrylic and 6 Astroturf, 7 of which are floodlit, 4 indoor acrylic tennis courts, 9 squash courts, 5 of which are glass backed, Fully equipped gymnasium, Bar and catering facilities, Studio and physiotherapy rooms,

With around 1,750 Members, HTSC is a Members’ Club run by a Board of members for the Members. You will ultimately be reporting to the General Manager who will be responsible for meeting with the Assistant Accountant on a regular basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Job Title Assistant Accountant


Base Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club


Scale £23,000 - £25,000 (pro rata)


Hours of Work 20 – 25 Hours per Week


Responsible To General Manager


Responsible For N/A


Principal Accountabilities:

Record all financial transactions which requires maintaining the purchase and sales ledgers; creating customer invoices; entering banking and other cash items; journal entries; and reconciling all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. Running a small monthly payroll and submitting the relevant returns to HMRC.


Specific Duties:


Maintain the fixed assets register and processing of depreciation calculations


Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner. Data entry of supplier invoices and reconciliation of supplier statements


Issue invoices to Service Level Providers and other external clients

* Includes credit control

* Issue monthly statements where appropriate


Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure their accuracy


Conduct continual audit of internal processes


Assist in the preparation of accrual and prepayment entries


Review and enter stock adjustments


Maintain the petty cash fund


Maintain an orderly accounting filing system


Maintain the chart of accounts


Process payroll in a timely manner including complying with HMRC rules and submitting necessary returns, issuing to employees the required documentation including:

* P45’s

* P60’s


Preparation of quarterly VAT returns, ensuring the club adheres to HMRC rules on VAT recognition


Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested

Want to play more racketball? Try one of our new sessions. Designed for all standards, a coach will lead the session and help you get the most from it.

The sessions are £5 per person and are on Squash courts 5,6,7 & 8

Tuesdays 1pm-2.20pm (starting Tues 26th June)

Thursdays  10.20am-11.40am.

This is for members & non members and is £5 per person.

All participants need to wear non-marking shoes.

14 -15 Year Junior Gym Sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays 4-5pm - Starting Monday 16th April 2018

Our 1 hour sessions are for 14-15 year olds who want to learn how to train. Each session will adopt a holistic approach to training, centred around long-term development & the welfare of the young participants.

Topics in each session will include;


- Motor Skills Development

- Mobility & Flexibility

- Strength Development 

-Metabolic Conditioning 


It is £5 per person & limited to 5 places.

Hallamshire Win National Squash Junior Club Championships in Birmingham

Hallamshire Juniors Sam, Charlotte & Nick won the National Squash Junior Club Championships at the weekend.

They beat Edgbaston priory 3-0 in the semi final and that set them up to take on Bexley in the final. After 3 very tough matches Hallamshire emerged the victors with a 2-1 result. This a great achievement and we are proud of you all. Well done.

Garry Elliott's charity bike ride around Loch Ness

One of our long-standing members, Garry Elliott, will be taking part in the Etape Loch Ness cycle event on Sunday 29th April. 



Garry will be cycling the 106km in support of SCCCC (Sheffield Churches Council For Community Care).

The National Racketball Championships are in Nottingham on 8th April 2018. The UK racketball series returns for the 3rd time to the Hallamshire. Playing in the tour is a great opportunity to play new players and play some competitive racketball.

The Sheffield Half Marathon is returning on Sunday 8th April 2018. This does unfortunately mean the Hallamshire will inaccessible by road from 8am to 2pm on that day. The club will be open as normal.

Nick Wall wins English Junior Championship Boys Under 19 National Title section closed section open

Nick Wall wins English Junior Championship Boys Under 19 National Title

Nick Wall secured his 2nd National title by beating the No 1 seed Tom Walsh 3-1 in the final. Nick is part of the Apex Academy & Nick Matthew Academy at the Hallamshire. Well done Nick.

6 Hallamshire juniors were at English Nationals last weekend.

Nick Wall was in BU19 and fisihed 1st 

Charlotte Jagger in GU19 and finished 3rd

Gabriella Mawson in GU19 and finished 4th

Emily Westall in GU19 and finished 6th

Rebecca Miller in GU17 and finished 25th 

Sam Davey in BU17 and finished 28th


All the juniors represent Hallamshire in Sheffield & District Squash as well as Yorkshire League Squash.
